Provides DSEAR assessments for dangerous and explosive atmospheres e.g. Biomass generation.

DSEAR places duties on employers and the self-employed to protect people from risks to their safety in the workplace, and to members of the public who may be at risk.
Dangerous substances are any substances used or present in the workplace that could, if not properly controlled, cause harm to people as a result of a fire or explosion or corrosion of metal.

Examples of substances that come under DSEAR are, pressurised gases, solvents, paints, varnishes, liquid petroleum gas (LPG), flour dusts, biomass generation and substances corrosive to metal.

FSP can assist with
• identifying what dangerous substances are in their workplace and what the risks are
• recommend control measures required to either remove those risks or, where this is not possible, control them
• recommend controls required to reduce the effects of any incidents involving dangerous substances
• assist with the preparation of plans and procedures to deal with accidents, incidents and emergencies involving dangerous substances
• identify and classify areas of the workplace where explosive atmospheres may occur and avoid ignition sources (from unprotected equipment, for example) in those areas
• provide DSEAR assessments for dangerous and explosive atmospheres e.g. Biomass generation.
